Shipping a car comes with plenty of details to organize. Your payment plan should be easy to understand. Before booking, review the total price, the amount charged after carrier assignment, and whether a balance will be due when the vehicle is delivered.
Both Onyx payment options follow the same starting point: requesting a quote or placing a booking does not trigger a charge. The difference is how the quoted total is paid after a carrier is assigned. Choose the option that fits your preferences and ask our team if any amount or payment instruction is unclear.
Discounted Cash Price
A partial payment after assignment. The balance at delivery.
No payment is required when you book. After a carrier is assigned, a partial payment is processed. The remaining transport balance is paid to the carrier when your vehicle is delivered, using the agreed payment method.
Your quote and booking details show the total and payment breakdown. Confirm the exact amount due at delivery and the carrier’s accepted payment method before the vehicle arrives.
This option may suit you if you prefer the discounted cash total and are comfortable arranging the remaining payment for delivery.
One-Time Full Payment
One full card payment after assignment. No balance at delivery.
No payment is required when you book. After a carrier is assigned, the full quoted amount is processed by credit or debit card in one payment.
Once that full payment has been processed, there is no remaining transport balance to pay at delivery under this option. You can focus on meeting the driver and reviewing the vehicle condition.
This option may suit you if you prefer a single payment and want the transport balance settled before delivery.

When Does Payment Happen?

Quote & Booking
Review your route, vehicle details, transport type, quoted total, and payment option. Place the booking without a charge. No payment is required simply to request a quote.
Carrier Assignment
Once a carrier is assigned, payment is processed according to your selected option: a partial payment for the discounted cash price, or the full amount for one-time card payment.
Vehicle Delivery
For the discounted cash option, have the remaining balance ready in the agreed form. For one-time full payment, no transport balance remains due. Review the vehicle condition with the driver.
Planning for a Balance Due at Delivery
For the Discounted Cash Price, the remaining balance is paid directly to the carrier at delivery. Payment options include cash or a cashier’s check. Some drivers may also accept Venmo or Zelle, depending on the carrier.
Carriers do not accept credit or debit cards at delivery. Confirm the accepted payment method with the assigned carrier before your vehicle arrives.
If someone else will receive the vehicle, make sure that person understands the payment arrangements and has the information needed to meet the driver. Keep your booking confirmation and payment records available. If the requested amount does not match your booking details, contact Onyx before making the payment.
Choosing One-Time Full Payment
If you prefer to settle the transport price in a single card payment, select One-Time Full Payment. The full amount is processed after carrier assignment, rather than when you place the booking.
This option can simplify delivery when another person is receiving the vehicle or when you prefer not to arrange a separate balance payment. Once the full transport payment has been processed, no remaining transport balance is due at delivery under this payment option.

What happens if I cancel before a carrier is assigned?
