Ms. Lela at Onyx was very responsive and gave the best value for transportation of my car. She clearly explained the terms for cash versus credit payments and sent a quote within few minutes. Their quote was very reasonable compared to others. The quote also included insurance for your car. The driver was courteous, picked and dropped the car on time. Because of the size of the truck you will need to drive your car about 5-8 miles to their truck (it carries 8-9 cars) so in that sense it is not door to door service but I understand the restrictions because of narrow roads in neighborhoods. Plan on having a ride once you drop. Same goes for pick up also. You get a better rate if you are flexible with picking and dropping dates. Don’t forget to remove EZ pass and such prior to dropping. If you pack the car make sure to cover contents with some blankets. Overall, I have had good experience and would strongly recommend Onyx.Posted on Google![]()

Over the years I've had several cars transported to Colorado, there are very few carriers that will come to this part of the US. Fortunately, I was put in contact with Onyx Auto Transport, they have provided shipping from the East Coast to Colorado and also another transport from Plano Texas. Both of these transports we're carefully monitored by Lela at dispatch, she immediately responded to any inquiries that I had about the process either by direct phone call or by text. Both transport drivers were very professional, and their rigs were carefully maintained. Would highly recommend Onyx Auto Transport... Bryan B.Posted on Google![]()

Yes, I shipped a car from northern Virginia to Henderson, Nevada. Everything went well. The driver kept in touch. Let me know when he would be arriving to pick up the car. And call me and let me know when he was about an hour away to give me time to make sure I was there. And called me and let me know ahead of time when he would be here with the car. And called me again when he was about 45 minutes away. We're definitely recommend for any future hallsPosted on Google![]()

Chicago to Pittsburgh can be noticeably shorter than Chicago to Philadelphia. Enter the Pennsylvania city and ZIP before deciding how many days to leave between releasing your car and needing it again.

Illinois to Pennsylvania Auto Transport Options
Choose a trailer for the vehicle you’re shipping from Illinois. An everyday sedan, a low-clearance sports car, and a vehicle released by a dealer each need different details at booking.
Open Auto Transport
Open carriers carry vehicles on an exposed trailer. The Illinois to Pennsylvania prices shown on this page assume open transport for a running vehicle. Ask for a separate estimate for a large SUV or truck.
Enclosed Auto Transport
Enclosed carriers shelter the vehicle during the trip. Give the coordinator your ground clearance and any special loading needs when requesting an enclosed quote.
Door-to-Door Car Shipping
Give the street addresses in Illinois and Pennsylvania. The driver will arrange pickup and delivery as close as a transporter can safely and legally reach.
Cross-Country Car Shipping
If you are moving to Pennsylvania on a fixed schedule, share your travel dates. An alternate contact at either end gives you more flexibility when coordinating with a long-distance carrier.
Classic Car Shipping
For a restored or collectible car, specify its dimensions, clearance, and any handling instructions. Compare enclosed and open service before selecting a carrier.
Vehicle Shipping for Different Needs
Buying from a dealer in Illinois or arranging a family handoff in Pennsylvania? Provide the releasing and receiving contacts. For an auction pickup, call Onyx to arrange release and loading.
How Illinois to Pennsylvania Car Shipping Works
Use the two ZIP codes, your vehicle details, and the first date it can leave Illinois. Pickup and transit are scheduled separately. Allow an estimated 2–3 days on the truck after the car is picked up. If someone can only release or receive it on a particular day, give Onyx that constraint before the carrier is assigned.
Get a Quote & Book Your Order
Provide the pickup and delivery ZIP codes, vehicle details, transport choice, and first available date. Review your quote and payment option, then book when ready. Tell us about access limits or vehicle modifications before a carrier is assigned.
Vehicle Pickup at Your Location
Your coordinator shares carrier and pickup details after assignment. Prepare the car and meet the driver at the agreed Illinois location. Review its condition together, note existing damage on the inspection report, and keep photos and a copy of the paperwork.
Safe Delivery to Your Destination
Stay in contact about the Pennsylvania arrival window. You or your representative meet the driver, inspect the car, and compare it with the pickup report before signing. Have any agreed delivery balance ready using the payment method confirmed in advance.
Prepare for Pickup in Illinois
For a Chicago pickup, for a garage or high-rise, confirm a street-level location where the driver can safely stop and lower the ramps. Share the release contact and first available date when requesting your quote.
Have a working key ready and photograph the car before it leaves Illinois. Let us know whether it starts, rolls, steers, and brakes. Your pickup contact should be present for the condition inspection.
Your Pickup Checklist
- Remove loose belongings
- Disable toll tags
- Photograph vehicle condition
- Keep keys available
- Report non-running condition
- Confirm safe truck access
- Arrange an authorized contact

Plan Your Pennsylvania Delivery
Delivering in Philadelphia? On narrow rowhouse blocks, coordinate a legal street-level handoff with room for the transporter. Check that your recipient can meet the driver during the agreed delivery window.
At delivery in Pennsylvania, check the car against the pickup inspection and your photos. Record any concerns on the delivery paperwork before signing and keep a copy.
Your Delivery Checklist
- Confirm the recipient contact
- Discuss delivery access
- Allow flexibility in timing
- Meet at the agreed location
- Inspect before signing
- Compare the pickup report
- Document any concerns
- Keep shipment paperwork

What Affects Your Illinois to Pennsylvania Shipping Rate?
When comparing Illinois to Pennsylvania quotes, use the same vehicle, cities, and dates. Here is what can change the price between your first estimate and a quote for the actual shipment.
Distance
Chicago to Philadelphia is about 760 road miles, compared with about 740 for Joliet to Allentown. A change of pickup or delivery city is a reason to request a fresh quote.
Vehicle Size
Larger vehicles generally need more space on the carrier and may weigh more. Their size can affect loading, available carrier space, and overall transportation costs.
Transport Type
Your choice between open and enclosed transport can change the price. Open transport is commonly more affordable, while enclosed transport provides additional protection during your vehicle’s journey.
Vehicle Condition
A running vehicle is usually easier to load and unload. If your car cannot move on its own, special equipment or additional handling may increase transportation costs.
Season and Demand
Shipping costs can change during busy seasons when more people need vehicle transportation. Higher demand and limited carrier availability may affect the rate for your move.
Pickup and Delivery Location
Your specific pickup and delivery areas can influence pricing. Remote locations, difficult access, or limited carrier routes may require extra planning and affect the overall transportation cost.
